Port of Tyne, identified as the UK’s most progressive port by the Institute of Transport Management and awarded their accolade of European Port of the Year 2007, has the best cruise handling facilities in the north of Britain.  With berths capable of handling vessels up to 300m, draft up to 10.5m, and links worldwide, we currently offer cruises to Scandinavia, the Baltic and the Mediterranean.  During the past seven years, we have enjoyed year on year growth with vessel size and passenger numbers increasing.  The end of July 2007 will see the completion of a £6 million investment in the refurbishment of our principal berth enabling us to accommodate vessels in excess of 300 metres loa.  In September 2007 we will host the inaugural call of the QE2 as part of her 40th anniversary UK cruise and will allow  us to showcase our facilities as well as the iconic attractions that the region of Northumbria has to offer.
